6 Healthy, Fun and Fast Camping Snacks to Try This Season

Let’s face it, it’s difficult to eat healthy while travelling. It’s even more difficult when we’re enjoying the outdoors. There are a lot of enticing treats to try, and of course, there’s nothing wrong with indulging every now and again.

If you’re looking to shed those unnecessary pounds however, a good diet is key. This week, we’re going to give you some healthy options to try when you’re out in the wilderness. Check out these simple recipes to feel great on those long hikes!

  1. Peach Chia Overnight Oats

These delicious breakfast snacks combine oats, yogurt and fruit for a perfect jump-start to your day! These are best to make before your outing, and will last for a few days in a cooler or refrigerated.

2. Trail Mix Protein Bars

These gluten-free snacks are perfect for a long hike! With sunflower seeds, raisins, and chopped walnuts, peanuts and almonds, these little treats are full of protein and will give you the energy you need to make it through an outdoor day.

3. Pico de Gallo

Pico de Gallo is a fantastic healthy treat when you’re on the go and don’t want to spend much time cooking. This recipe only takes 20 minutes, so it’s great when for lunch or when you’re taking a break. It’s also inexpensive!

4. Asian Broccoli Slaw with Pineapple

Who doesn’t love a little pineapple on a hot summer day? This recipe goes great as a snack or side dish. It only takes about 10 minutes to make, and pairs perfectly with a main course of campfire food.

5. Rainbow Veggie Pinwheels

Not sure about you, but we love pinwheels, and especially healthy ones! You might want to make these at home and bring them with you, but they’re delicious, colorful and will last for a full day if cooled.

6. Tin Foil Sausage and Veggies (Dinner)

OK, so we cheated a little. We couldn’t write an entire food blog without at least one main course meal. This easy-to-make meal can be done on the grill or over a campfire, and is an awesome healthy treat to end the day. The entire meal will take around half an hour to make.
