A Beginner’s Guide to Midwest Outdoor Resorts

To those who haven’t read this blog before, welcome! We go over a large variety of topics here, everything from winterizing your RV to camping recipes to travel apps. This week, we’re going to give you a little introduction into what we do here at Midwest Outdoor Resorts (MOR), so you can get an idea of what we offer and what our company entails.

Midwest Outdoor Resorts is a campground membership service that is all about providing fun, affordable family vacation opportunities. Offering our Members Free Camping at all 5 of our MOR locations and helping them to save thousands of dollars over the lifetime of the membership by not having to pay State Park Rates, Seasonal Rates, and every raising Resort Rates. Besides our five resorts in the Upper Midwest, MOR has affiliations with some of the top national vacation networks, establishing reciprocal use relationships which allow MOR members to access hundreds of resorts nationwide. We pride ourselves on giving you and your family a lifetime of vacation memories, whether that includes hiking in the Black Hills, enjoying a lazy day floating on the St. Croix River, catching a walleye on Lake Mille Lacs or escaping to the beautiful bluff country of Southern Minnesota. On top of that, with our world-wide affiliates we are able to offer Disney trips, beach vacations, one-of-a-kind camping trips and stays in condos all over the globe!

Here’s a quick rundown of our four current resorts:

Rushmore Shadows: Located in the heart of the Black Hills, Rushmore Shadows is close to all the beautiful scenery and historic landmarks the area has to offer. The family-friendly campground offers all sorts of amenities, and is the perfect staging point for a vacation in one of the best travel destinations in the U.S.

Hidden Bluffs: Tucked in the southeast corner of Minnesota, Hidden Bluffs is a two-hour drive from the Twin Cities. Here you’ll find a fantastic family destination where you can kick back, relax and enjoy all this secluded area has to offer. Whether you’re into outdoor activities like fishing, hunting, kayaking and four-wheeling, or are looking for some small-town charm, Hidden Bluffs Resort is a tranquil getaway.

St. Croix River: Located just an hour and a half northeast of Minneapolis/St. Paul, the St. Croix River resort is the perfect spot for a one-of-a-kind river vacation.

Canoeing, tubing and fishing are some of the hallmarks of fun on the St. Croix. The river is considered one of the best canoeing rivers in the U.S., and is home to 19 species of fish, including Walleye, Northern Pike and Lake Sturgeon that can grow to over 50 pounds! A tributary of the Mississippi River, St. Croix contains rich American history and the lower 125 miles of the river give Minnesota and Wisconsin a natural border.

Soo Line Trail: If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, the Soo Line Trail is your spot. Hiking, biking, and off-roading is all minutes away. You can also enjoy a beach day on Lake Mille Lacs or fish for trophy-size walleye, northern pike and bass. The area has plenty of dining and entertainment options as well, so you can plan an awesome adventure for everyone in your family.

We’re also excited to announce a fifth resort opening in the spring of 2018! Ham Lake Resort will offer camping, canoeing/kayaking, a swimming beach and more! With a Midwest Outdoor Resorts membership, you’re cordially invited to stay at any of our awesome destinations! We offer a variety of affordable membership options to fit your needs.
