Welcome to our second installment of our five-part series on the best vacations to take in the U.S. Today, we’ll be going over another Midwest Outdoor Resorts (MOR) destination, the St. Croix River Resort in Hinckley, Minnesota. Located just an hour and a half northeast of Minneapolis/St. Paul, the St. Croix River resort is the perfect spot for a one-of-a-kind river vacation.

Get a taste of Upper Midwest history at Forts Folle Avoine. This living history site offers the chance to see actual fur-trading posts of that were active from 1802-1805. The trading posts have been undisturbed for over 200 years, untouched by habitation. A great place to learn a few things about American frontier history and take a step back in time.

This gorgeous course located next to Grand Casino Hinckley offers a test for any skill level. Consistently ranked among the best courses in Minnesota, Grand National’s rolling hills and native forests will provide beauty and a golf challenge.
Running from Hinckley to the Northern Minnesota city of Duluth, the Willard Munger State Trail offers hiking, bicycling, skating and even snowmobiling in the winter. The section near the St. Croix River is known as the Matthew Lourey State Trail, and contains a variety of wildlife including whitetail deer, red fox, porcupine and beaver.
