Finding your hidden treasure at the Hidden Bluffs Resort

Welcome to our third installment of our five-part series on amazing vacation spots in the U.S. Today we’re taking a look at Midwest Outdoor Resorts’ Hidden Bluffs in Spring Grove, MN. Tucked in the southeast corner of Minnesota, Hidden Bluffs is a two-hour drive from the Twin Cities. Here you’ll find a fantastic family destination where you can kick back, relax and enjoy all this secluded area has to offer.

Whether you’re into outdoor activities like fishing, hunting, kayaking and four-wheeling, or are looking for some small-town charm, Hidden Bluffs Resort is a tranquil getaway. In 1876, when Laura was nine years old, the family moved from Walnut Grove, MN to Burr Oak, IA after suffering through two years of grasshopper plagues (can you imagine?). Here you can wander the banks of Silver Creek as Laura did, or dress up in pioneer outfits for some memorable family photos. There are tours and special events throughout the summer.

A guide will take you deep into the Amish lifestyle as you explore various family farms. Your tour can be customized to specific interests, and you’ll have the opportunity to purchase a variety of Amish goods as well as experience first-hand unique Amish history. You’ll take a step back in time as you see how people live without the technology we so often take for granted.
